The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. autonomous vacuum did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
